STRICT NEW YORK CITY OUTDOOR SMOKING BAN IN EFFECT TODAY
Starting Monday, May 23rd, 2011, if you smoke in any of New York City’s 1,700 public parks, and 14 miles of beaches, you will be fined $50.

This means it’s now illegal to light up on any property managed by New York City’s Department of Parks and Recreation.
This expands upon NYC’s already strict smoking laws:
New York City passed its first Smoke Free Air Act in 1988, when smoking was banned in public restrooms and taxicabs. Since then, the law has been amended three times, most notably in 2002, when smoking in some indoor areas — including restaurants and bars — was banned. [Source]
I don’t really have any investment either way. If you choose to smoke, that’s on you. I just wish I could avoid walking into people’s smoke clouds on the sidewalk!
PLANET FITNESS $10 A MONTH GYM DEAL

Planet Fitness is currently running a $10 down, $10/mo promotion (normally $20 down) for new members. The offer expires tomorrow, but it’s a great alternative to the bloated Bally’s contracts, or inflated Crunch and Equinox prices.
As with all things, you do get what you pay for, so while Planet Fitness isn’t the sexiest gym in all the land, it’s certainly worth the $10/mo, and then some.
Members interested in all club privileges can put the same $10 down, and pay $20/mo for unlimited personal training, free use of the massage chairs, and unlimited tanning among other random perks. There’s no excuse good enough to avoid the gym this summer!
